11/15/2023 0 Comments Opel manta rally car![]() ![]() ![]() The car has no locks ignition is a switch and a Thatchem approved imobaliser, the doors open using the alarm but the battery in the fob needs replacing so alarm switched off. Also the wing is dented (visible in first picture) and there's a minor crease in the rear quarter (visible in 3rd picture) The car will run but is for restoration, it has no battery but I connected a couple up to it to fire it up, there's even 2 gallons of new petrol and freshly cleaned plugs and new coolant etc but I have not driven it as I would want to replace the gearbox and diff oil first, I've checked the oil seems OK in the engine, but would change this before use too. I stopped using it after a minor incident with a not very strong wall (the wall suffered more than the car) this has caused a crack on the passenger side of the windscreen, and the passenger side wing mirror. It does not have a cage fitted, and the seats and harnesses have been removed (there is a single recaro road seat so I could move it about). I had intended to finish preparing it for rallying, it has battery cut off fitted and a Terratrip Rally Computer all fitted and connected with driver remote. Instead I used it for tarmac sprints and hill climbs. I didn't use this as a road car so it has not been on the road for a very long time but its registered and SORN'ed. The owner had spent 10K on an i300 conversion and genuine irmscher wide body kit, making it very fast car as the engine is not stock but developes 250bhp at the fly and 202 at the wheels along with hilarious amounts of torque fitted with among else a rather wild scatter cam to the big straight 6 3.0L 12valve engine. 5 years later I got the call telling me he had to move the car that day and if I could take it away he would sell to me, I turned up and got the beast running and drove away on some trade plates. He advised he was never going to sell, but he chucked my number in the glove box. I managed to keep up and when the guy stopped I gave him my number and said I wanted to buy it. Very rare opportunity, I have decided my Opel Manta has to go to a new home, I have too many projects and if someone doesn't do something with it it will start to deterioate and that would be a waste as its a bit special!!! I bought the car years ago, I saw it driving past at incredible speed and noise and new I wanted it. ![]()
